Representatives of the International Campaign for Tibet joined an event in front of the White House in Washington, D.C. on October 9, 2012 at 12 Noon to celebrate second anniversary of Nobel Peace Prize Award to literary critic, writer and political activist Liu Xiaobo. The event was planned to coincide with a “dinner” for Liu Xiaobo being held at 7 PM local time in Budapest, Hungary at the 5th International Conference on Global Support for Democratization in China and Asia.
They signed a petition for the release of Liu Xiaobo, who has been under formal detention since June 2009 and sentenced to 11 years in December of that year.
At the event, names of political prisoners, including those of several Tibetans, were read to the gathering.
