ICT mourns the passing of a great human and civil rights leader, Coretta Scott King, who passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, Jan. 31. She was 78. Coretta Scott King worked tireless to uphold the legacy of her late husband, Martin Luther King, Jr. and founded the King Center in Atlanta.

In 1995 I had the honor of accompanying His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center in Atlanta. His Holiness was invited to tour the center by Mrs. King and her son, Dexter King.

It was one of the most profound moments of my life to see two of the worlds leading civil and human rights advocates discussing the work of Dr. King as well as the problems that the world was facing at that time.

I am honored to share with you some photos of that day, as we all mourn the passing of a great woman, Coretta Scott King.
