16th annual Tibet Lobby Day brings over 200 supporters to DC

A record number of Tibet supporters convened at the US Capitol in June to bring their message on Tibet to their elected representatives. More than 200 people, representing 25 states plus Washington, DC, visited more than 100 congressional offices.

Participants advocated for a resolution recognizing the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday and his outstanding contributions to humanity, while also rejecting Chinese Communist Party interference in the reincarnation process. They further urged lawmakers to maintain funding for Tibet-related programs and push for fair access to Tibet.

These advocacy efforts had an immediate impact gaining ten new cosponsors. And as we go to print, the resolution has just been passed in the Senate!

Lobby Day concluded with a joyous celebration of the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday as part of ICT’s year-long Compassion Rising campaign.
