A new CD “Sacred Prayers for His Holiness the Dalai Lamas and Panchen Lamas” (OgreOgress productions, USA, 2004) containing chants by monks of the Tashi Lhunpo monastery is being released on July 6, 2004 to coincide with the 69th birthday of the Dalai Lama.

The CD contains Buddhist chants by seven monks of the monastery and includes Refuge and Bodhichitta and long life prayers to the Dalai Lama and the Panchen Lama.

The original Tashi Lhunpo monastery is located in Shigatse in Tibet and is the seat of the Panchen Lama. In exile, Tashi Lhunpo Monastery was re-established in the Southern Indian state of Karnataka in 1972. The monastery has over 250 monks, including from Tibet and the Indian Himalayan region.

OgreOgress productions based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, has started producing recordings featuring monastic music of Tibetan Buddhist monks. To date they have produced recordings of Drepung Tehor Khangtsen: Tour 2000 Prayers, Gyuto Tantric University: Chant Retrospective 2000, and Gyudmed Tantric University: Voices of Buddhism.
