ICT strongly supports the Tibetan people’s right of self-determination and views the efforts of the Dalai Lama and his representatives to engage the Chinese leadership in dialogue on the future of Tibet as an exertion of this right. ICT will reserve judgment on the visit’s utility until after the delegation returns. Nonetheless, ICT is significantly encouraged that Beijing is responding to international calls for dialogue.
ICT thanks its 90,000 members and many others for building and sustaining a movement that has helped to create a supportive climate in capitals throughout the world for the Dalai Lama’s efforts to achieve a negotiated solution for Tibet.
