Dhondup Wangchen

Please take action on behalf of Dhondup Wangchen by sending your Senators and Representative a message that urges them to take immediate steps to secure his release from prison.

Dhondup Wangchen, a Tibetan detained by the Chinese government for making the film, “Leaving Fear Behind,” was arrested in March 2008, after completing the documentary. He was sentenced to six years in prison according to information received by the Central Tibetan Administration on December 28, 2009. It is not known where the filmmaker was tried.

Wangchen’s lawyer, Li Dunyong, reported that his client had been tortured in order to extract a confession. In addition, his family fears that the health of Dhondup Wangchen, who suffers from Hepatitis B, has deteriorated significantly in detention. Learn more…
