Thousands celebrate 75th anniversary of Dalai Lama’s assumption of leadership
—
More than 6000 people gathered in Dharamsala, India, on November 17th to express gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his kindness, beginning with his assumption of the spiritual and temporal leadership of Tibet on November 17, 1950.
Lawmakers and advocates call for strengthened support for Tibet during Congressional hearing
—
The Congressional-Executive Commission on China’s latest hearing featured testimony from Chinese Christians, a Hui Muslim, and a Tibetan Buddhist – including ICT’s Bhuchung K. Tsering. It also included resounding calls for new initiatives to take a tougher stance on China’s ongoing occupation of Tibet.
ICT’s new report, “Why Tibet? Strategic Imperatives for International Peace and Security,” details Tibet’s critical importance in regional and global geopolitics, security, trade, and the environment while drawing the connection between China’s aggressive exploitation of Tibet with its human rights abuses against the Tibetan people.

FIDH 42nd Congress’ resolution demands release of Tibetan environmental defender Anya Sengdra
—
The 42nd Congress of the International Federation for Human Rights, of which ICT is a member, brought together 117 organizations from across the world. It adopted six urgent resolutions, including one on the case of Tibetan environmental defender Anya Sengdra, whose prison sentence was reportedly extended by one year last August without any official announcement by Chinese authorities or transparent judicial procedure and whose health is deteriorating in detention.
The Chinese Communist Party is making enormous efforts to indoctrinate Tibetan schoolchildren with their ideology. Not even primary school pupils escape these ideological campaigns, as reports in the Chinese propaganda media show.
As COP30 opened in the heart of the Amazon, the International Campaign for Tibet urged negotiators and stakeholders to ensure that the principle of a just transition becomes reality. This depends on concrete action to recognize the rights of those whose voices are systematically silenced, such as the Tibetan people.

We are deeply honored to collaborate with our friends at Mutts Comics to share some of our favorite illustrations and quotes from Heart to Heart, a remarkable collaboration between His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and renowned illustrator Patrick McDonnell. With gentle wisdom and moving simplicity, this book invites us to reflect on our connection to one another and to this Earth we all live on. It is a call for a Compassionate Revolution—a reminder, as His Holiness writes, that "we are indeed all members of a single family, sharing one little house."

From climate change to the survival of democracy, Tibet is at the heart of the biggest challenges facing our world. That's why we're thrilled to share financially smart ways to give that will promote human rights and democratic freedoms for the people of Tibet:

- IRA gifts: If you're 70.5 or older, donations from your IRA reduce your taxable income and can help meet a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) if you must take one.
- Donor-Advised Funds: With a grant recommendation from your Donor-Advised Fund, you can give from the money you've already set aside without spending an additional cent!
- Crypto: A donation of appreciated cryptocurrency can help you avoid capital gains taxes and get a big tax deduction.
We hope you consider the donation option(s) best for you, and together, we can shift the balance toward compassion and kindness.
When you give these types of gifts, please use the tools linked above so we can track your gift, send you the right receipt and ensure you get the tax savings you deserve.
