TIBETAN EMPOWERMENT

As China tries to destroy Tibetans’ unique identity, ICT works to empower the Tibetan people.

Our Lodi Gyari Tibetan Empowerment Program—named after our former executive chairman—includes several initiatives to help Tibetans practice their traditions, protect their heritage and speak up for their rights.

The Tibetan Youth Leadership Program nurtures young Tibetans who will not only become future leaders of their community but also act now to create change. The Washington Internship Program for Tibetan Americans gives the growing Tibetan American community opportunities to take part in the political process. And our Tibet Lobby Day helps Tibetan-Americans take their message to Capitol Hill.

The Rowell Fund for Tibet, established by friends and family of Galen and Barbara Rowell in cooperation with ICT, provides small grants to Tibetans working in the fields of visual arts, the environment, media and women’s rights. ICT also provides Humanitarian Assistance to the Tibetan community, including for the health and education of Tibetan children.

ICT’s Political Prisoners Rehabilitation Program assists former Tibetan political prisoners through monetary support and other means. ICT Europe helps a select group of former political prisoners to become politically active so they can share their stories with politicians and the public. And ICT’s Tibetan Parliamentarians Program in Europe takes delegations of Tibetan parliamentarians on a study tour of Europe.

China is one of the most powerful countries in the world today. That’s why we need your help to empower Tibetans so they can stand up against the Chinese government.
