This fellowship is dedicated to supporting Tibetans working in the fields of contemporary art, creative writing, film and theater. The Schrucker Fellowship’s inaugural application cycle, set to open September 1, 2024.

Tibetans from any country are eligible to apply. Tibetans working for organizations may apply on behalf of the organization, provided that the applicant is central to the implementation of the project’s work.

Non-Tibetans are ineligible for grants from this fellowship.

The total grant amount in 2024 will be $20,000. Projects can receive funding from $500 to $3,000.

Although both grants support Tibetans working in the fields of art, the Rowell Fund focuses on themes of environment/conservation, women’s empowerment, literature, photography and humanitarian projects. The Schrucker Fellowship focuses on contemporary art, creative writing, film, and theater.
May I apply to both the Schrucker Fellowship and the Rowell Fund at the same time?
The total grant amount in 2024 is $20,000. Projects can receive funding from $500 to $3,000.
Can the Schrucker Fellowship be used to fund work leading to an MFA or Ph.D. or any other advanced degree?
No.
Will the fellowship cover artist’s expenses?
Yes.

If you are selected as a grantee, you will be contacted in December.
If I receive a decision indicating that my application has been declined, can I apply again?
Yes. There are no limitations on how many times you can apply during the period that grant applications are accepted.
